The short version
The Mathbuns app collects no personal data from children or parents. It works 100% offline, sends nothing to our servers or any third party, and uses no cookies, analytics, ads, or tracking. Everything is stored on your device. To delete all data, simply uninstall the app.
Who we are
The Mathbuns app is published by SIELAY Ltd (registered in England & Wales). For any privacy question, contact support@mathbuns.com.
Effective date: 3 July 2026. Last updated: 3 July 2026.
Data we collect
- We do not collect any personal data from children or parents.
- The app works 100% offline with no network dependency.
- No data is sent to our servers or third parties.
- All content and progress is stored locally on the device.
- No cookies, analytics, or tracking technologies are used.
- No advertising or marketing data is collected.
- Child profiles use a name you choose — it can be anything. No real identifiers, email, phone, or date of birth are required.
Parental controls
- Parents can set a PIN to protect the parental control settings.
- Parents can configure daily screen-time limits and per-session limits with breaks.
- Parents can set an optional “Do Not Disturb” (quiet hours) window during which the app is unavailable.
- Parents can reset a child's progress at any time.
- Parents can set each child's practice level, which also controls exercise difficulty.
Deleting your data
- To delete all user data, simply uninstall the app — everything is stored locally.
- Because we are offline-only, there is no backup or recovery of data from our servers. We never receive a copy.
COPPA (US children under 13)
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Because the app collects no personal information and transmits nothing off the device, no verifiable parental consent is required. The app is designed for direct child use under parental oversight.
GDPR & UK data protection
Any information you enter is processed only on your device under UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the EU GDPR. There are no international data transfers because all data stays local to your device.
Device permissions
Mathbuns requests only minimal permissions. It does not use the network, camera, microphone, location, contacts, or media at runtime. The device's built-in text-to-speech is used, only when a child taps the speaker icon, to read shape names aloud; no audio is recorded.
Third-party libraries
We use only open-source libraries; there are no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Core libraries include React Native and the Expo SDK (both MIT-licensed), along with MIT-licensed modules for on-device storage (expo-sqlite, AsyncStorage), secure PIN storage (expo-secure-store), PIN hashing (expo-crypto), drawing (react-native-svg), and speech (expo-speech). The full list is available in the app under About → Third-Party Licenses.
